About Mutherpluckin' B's Music

Making covers of Nintendo tunes and other video game music (VGM) is nothing really new, and there's lots of people on the net doing it in pretty much any genre of music you can imagine. My flavour is based in earlier days of popular music, in the rock 'n' roll, funk and prog rock of the 1960s and 1970s.
As far as "production values" are concerned, I go from somewhere around The Rolling Stones' Exile On Main St and Goats Head Soup, through The Stooges' original Raw Power and mid-70s Led Zeppelin, to early 80s Van Halen. My songs are not particularly tight or clear by modern standards, never perfectly balanced, but instead I try to inject them with as much feel and groove as I can, despite the bits and pieces approach to their creation and regardless if they're fast or slow, straight or funky. To me, that goal should be primary for every musician, but it is one that often seems to be forgotten in the modern world of aural perfection.
My hardware is primarily a bunch of guitars, a bass and several software synthesizers. All amps are tube amps and I record in my small home studio. Unfortunately I must rely on soundfonts for the drums, but I do play them by hand on my keyboard.
