What's Flac? ------------ The Flac (Free Lossless Audio Codec) format is a lossless audio compression format which retains full audio quality, unike lossy formats like mp3, ogg and wma. In practise it works like a zip archive optimized for wav files. A typical flac-compressed file is about five times larger than its mp3 counterpart, but still around half the size of the original wav or CD track. After decompressing the flac files, you can burn them on a CD and have the complete album identical to the master, without any quality loss in the music. Feel free to download the flac files of my songs and burn your own copies of my CDs. That is, after all, the whole purpose of this format. All utilities needed to handle the flac files are available for free at: http://flac.sourceforge.net There are also similar formats, such as Ape and Shn. - Mutherpluckin' B
